Meeting: April 14, 2011 Minutes Present: Pat Lemon, Sandy Renna, Mari Rovang, Miryam Williamson & Tom Wyatt I. April 16 movie: King of Hearts: Miryam will turn up the heat, Tom will open the dampers. Projection: Tom with Nadia's help (if available) or Miryam's guidance. Set up chairs: Sandy, Suzanne, Tom, Mari (a little) and Pat (a little). Popcorn - only 3 poppers needed: Mari, Suzanne/Sandy, Claudia or Dylan. Nicol, you get a break! II. Discussion of movies for May into the Fall: a) David Conover, choices: Wind Farm (set on Maine island, about renewable energy, to be completed by July), Behold the Earth (musical documentary about sustainability, 80 mins, to be completed by July), Sunrise (visual focus on sunrises, musicians often play at the showings), Block Island Triology (collection of 3 shorts about Block Island). b) Movies that Kristy Delfausse has: The Economics of Happiness (Buddhist elements, costs $100 for us to show, 68 mins), Garbage Dreams (children in landfill, free) c) Voices of Spirit (about the life & talents of Elwood Babbitt, 60 mins, a rental fee is likely) Discussion: Kristy will be here July 4th through August. We'd like to show one of her movies. Pat will send an email with the links to the trailer. Like the sound of David's movies, especially Wind Farm; Sunrise might work really well for the Art Show (Sat. night). Sandy will forward an email with the links to the trailers. Strong interest in Voices of Spirit, why not go for May? Would be great to see if Clare Green and her sister Margie Babbitt (was married to Elwood) and maybe others who knew him to come for a discussion after the movie. Chose Saturday May 14th for this, 7:30pm start. Note: this date did not work for Clare and her sister. After discussion with Pat and Sandy, I'm proposing Saturday May 21st instead -that's good for Clare. Pat wanted us to go ahead even though she can't be there. III. Old Home Days: Mari will be in touch with Kerry Kazokas about a theater production of some sort. Working with Clare??? IV. Proofing draft for Annual Town Meeting Report: Done, to be submitted soon with Wooden Fender's report. V. Next meeting: Thursday June 16th 5:00pm at the Library. It'll be another bladder-friendly meeting (5-6pm). Thanks, Sandy, a great concept!
