Warwick is going to get a lot of snow if the predictions are on target. I just received a "Situational Awareness Statement" from the state emergency management agency which says you'd be wise to be aware of your surroundings / the Winter Storm. We will do our best on the roads, but I don't expect us to be able to maintain the roads as if it were July, especially in a howling wind, so use good judgment and minimize your travel if possible. We do not expect major power interruptions or interruptions of a long duration. Therefore we do not have a plan to operate a shelter. Regional shelters are the preference if shelters should become required. Just in case it is needed, the generator at the school is functional. (Thanks are due Roland Weld and Steve Kurkoski for their recent work there). While unlikely, if we are forced to open a local shelter, you will be called upon by somebody from Fire, Police or Emergency Management and receive an update. We would, if house to house calls become needed, leave a door knob hanger to tell you what we know if you aren't home. And then we will make stone soup out of the contents of our freezers until the power comes back. David Young, administrative coordinator
