Town of Warwick Selectboard May 24, 2010 Minutes Members present: Patricia Lemon, Dawn Magi Member Absent: Nick Arguimbau Others present: Town Coordinator David Young, Town Secretary Rosa Fratangelo Calcari, Tax Collector/Treasurer Terry Kemerer, Jon Calcari I. Call to Order Selectboard Clerk Lemon called the meeting to order at 1:04 p.m. in the Town Hall. II. Presentations/Discussions Reorganization of the Board--Young suggested a return to the traditional method of alternating of officer assignments, with the member whose term is up next being Chair, the member with the next term to expire being Vice Chair and the newly elected member being Clerk. He said that Arguimbau agreed to remain the Chair. Lemon MOVED that the Selectboard officers be as follows: Nick Arguimbau, Chair; Patricia Lemon, Vice Chair; Dawn Magi, Clerk. Magi SECONDED. Motion carried buy a vote of 2-0-0. Magi asked for a list of Clerk's duties. Lemon said that the Clerk is sometimes authorized to sign certain documents on the Board's behalf. 2. Special Town Meeting Warrant--Young added Article 3, which reads "Shall the Town borrow $130,000 to fund repairs to the Warwick Community School sprinkler system? (two-thirds vote required)" There was a consensus of the Board that it will be a good idea to spend part of the $70,000.00 already approved at the Annual Town Meeting on engineering. Young said he spoke with Fire Chief Gunnar Lambert, who feels that merely repairing what is there would not be a wise decision. Magi MOVED to schedule a Special Town Meeting at 7 pm on Monday, June 7th, and to post the warrant as printed. Lemon SECONDED. Motion carried by a vote of 2-0-0. Appointment of Transfer Station Attendant--Young said that Robbins Road resident George Roaf is recommended for appointment. He has been working at the transfer station for the past several Saturdays. Lemon MOVED that effective immediately George Roaf be appointed transfer station attendant, a permanent part-time position under the direction of the Board of Health. Magi SECONDED. Motion carried by a vote of 2-0-0. Selectboard Representative to FRCOG--Young said that former Selectman Rick Abbott has been the Board's representative, and asked new member Magi if she would agree to assume the assignment. She agreed. Lemon MOVED that Dawn Magi be authorized to serve as the Warwick Selectboard representative on the FRCOG. Magi SECONDED. Motion carried by a vote of 2-0-0. Young thanked everyone for attending this daytime meeting. III. Adjournment Lemon MOVED to adjourn the meeting at 1:19 pm. Magi SECONDED. Motion carried by a vote of 2-0-0.
