AUGUST OPEN SPACE PLAN UPDATE - Ted Cady The Open Space Plan Committee is continuing to work to develop information about Warwick that may surprise you but hopefully will help you have a better understanding of our town and give you ideas on where the town should be headed in the years ahead so your ideas can be incorporated into the Open Space Plan. We will give you our ideas and you can give us yours. We should have a good presentation for you at a Public Forum on October 14 at 7:00 PM in the Town Hall Dining Room. If interested, please mark your calendar now. Dave Shepardson has done a lot of work locating the old mill sites and other special features on maps. Brad Compton is checking the data on the map of protected open space to make sure it matches the assessors' records (protected open space includes state land, town land, Chapter 61, 61A and 61B land, land owned by conservation groups, and land with conservation restrictions) There will also be habitat maps. These will be large scale, color maps. The locations will be permanently preserved as an electronic data layer so in future years the information can be updated. These maps will be available for viewing at the Public Forum. Awhile back an Open Space Survey was sent to every household. The returns have been tabulated and now the committee is working to translate your responses into a plan. You will be sent a copy of the Open Space Survey Summary which gives a summary of the survey results and compares the results to the survey done in 2001. Our meetings are always open to the public and we would enjoy having you participate. We meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the town hall. If you have questions call a member of the committee or Ted Cady (978) 544-6410.
