Warwick Open Space Plan Committee Meeting - August 12, 2009 7:00 PM Warwick Town Hall Draft Minutes Minutes taken by BC and KAF 1. Meeting called to order at 7:04 pm 2. Approval of July 22 Meeting Minutes unanimously Keith points out that state forest land isn't permanently protected such as DCR building a prison camp. 3. Committee Reports Teen Subcommittee - GPS Trails - Patricia Lemon says 3 kids want to do trail GPS. Nathan Foote did technical testing and it will work. Kids plan to do this on weekends in early September. Equestrian Caucus - Appendix Due August l5 - 4. Funding for Conservation -Keith has additional corrections for Conservation Opportunities section and will email tomorrow. 5a. Comments on Section 7 Accomplishments - Ted Cady - added Broadband in item D-2 as a partial accomplishment and Ted got high praise for August newsletter item. 6a. September Newsletter - Committee recommended that Open Space Survey Summary go out in September Community Newsletter as build up to Oct l4 Public Forum - Andrea would prefer 2 pages, but OSSS is 5 - Should we condense it, edit it, or buy to put in the extra pages. We agreed that we would pay for the additional pages. 5b. Follow-up on "TO DO" from last meeting Historic sites on GIS map with help from FRCOG GIS person, deadline for inclusion July 22 -Dave Shepardson went on vacation and dropped off the maps at Ted's. He marked up the 2002 map of Scenic Resources. The Committee decided to look at the maps to decide if items are in the correct locations. We are leaving the Cultural and Scenic Resources map until Dave returns, there is no 2009 Cultural and Scenic Resources map. Keith noticed that the Tannery needs to be moved closer to his house. Several other notes were written on various DRAFT 2009 plans. Brad will compare maps and the list of properties with protection in the Chapter 5 Draft. Trail Maintenance Due July 8 - Patricia Lemon Patricia printed out her draft language on trail maintenance and made a table of all the town roads, historic and current. Karro and Brad will edit this document and return it to Patricia. Karro will forward this to other members when she sends out the minutes so all can comment to Patricia about needed changes. 6b. Important Dates Horse Trail Maintenance Appendix - August 15 OS Survey Summary, and Open Space Plan Committee Update to Newsletter by Aug 20 - Ted is giving this information to Andrea for the newsletter. Public Forum - Oct 14 7. Review Dave Shepardson's Maps - carried to next meeting when Dave is here 8. Section 7: Ted will write-up that will incorporate the OS Survey, Teens comments and the Community School comments instead of having Kimberly do this. Section 8: turtle crossing signs; Mary Thomas is moving from town so someone else needs to take on the responsibility of getting the signs up and down turtle nesting seasons. Ted asks if the Conservation Commission will take this on; Karro agrees that this would be good and will request the Commission take this on. There is a suggestion for additional signs on Gale Road. We decide to do a separate Teen and Community School section. Clare Green, Karro Frost and Chris Duerring will develop this. Ted asks us all to look at Section 9 (include a right to farm, agricultural committee). Karro will email Section 8 Draft to committee reflected tonight's work. 9. Next meeting - August 26 with Kimberly. Sections 8, 9, and 10; Review GIS Maps, Carry-over of anything from this meeting, Review Section 7 Accomplishments, work on Section 8, and Sep. 9, Consider if additional meeting necessary before Oct l4. 10.
