Warwick Open Space Plan Committee Meeting June 24, 2009 7:00 PM Warwick Town Hall 1. sign in, introductions, 2. Approval of June 10 Meeting Minutes - unanimously approved 3. Follow-up on "TO DO" from last meeting Dave Shepardson emailed write up ("drop-in" Sec. 4) of streams and ponds omitted from 2002 Species Space Cadets Subcommittee report on birds, reptiles and amphibians, invasive species, migratory critters, and mammals, including a write up for report with Lists in appendix - still need to get in the Pat Swain letter. Chapter 61 write up by Mary Williamson - Ted told Mary that she didn't need to do this. Wendell has just written up a three page description of Chapter 61 and she volunteered to get it so we might include it as an appendix. Criteria for acquisition of unprotected land by Mary Williamson - Mary included ten conservation values that would be the basis for conserving land. Expansion of these ten conservation values and why each is important and why it is important in Warwick. Currently this is handwritten, not typed. She will type and put on a travel drive to be distributed via email to others. Mary will have it to us by July 8 for review and to the Open Space Committee. She plans to deliver to Ted. Comments on Section 4 - Conn. River, Ashuelot River, and incorporating letter from Pat Swain by Species Space Cadets and Dave Shepardson to Kimberly/Whitty by July 1 Clare Green's suggestion of easel for library to get additional comments - her suggestion was for a public forum, and then leave it there after the public meeting forum for people to add other ideas. Agreed that this is a great idea to get public input. Pat Lemon has prepared a list of historical properties which she has questions about. Also meeting on July 7 and 16 for Friends of Warwick's Forests. Proposed name and mission statement were prepared at the last meeting. Dave Shepardson and others - circle historic sites and natural areas on Charlie Morse Map to include in Scenic Resources Map and not on 2002 Scenic Resources Map. Dave has gone through and 4. Committee Reports - Equestrian Caucus - Working on Trail Maintenance Guide - Pat has hundreds of pages of documents that she is trying to cut down. Ted has given Mary Wall a deadline of August 15. Pat Lemon mentions that she was able to get a pdf document from DCR in Northampton. Teen Subcommittee - Meeting June 13 at Town Hall Friends of Mt. Grace State Forest - Meeting in June 5. Reviewed Section 5, Start work on Sections 6, 7, and 8 6. Reviewed each person's concerns from last time (see Minutes) - select top 5 or 6 and an advocate for each item who will do a one paragraph write-up for next meeting. ATVs (Brad Compton) and road and trail erosion, beavers and flooding problems (Dave Shep), funding for conservation (Mary Williamson), maintenance of fire-ponds (Ted Cady) and trail maintenance (add signage?)(Pat Lemon and Matt Hickler) 7.
