Moore's Pond Beach Committee Minutes
June 4, 2012 at 6:30 PM Town Hall

Present:  Kathy Connelly, Gloria Varno, Fran Prohaska, Dave Shepardson,
Jim McRae, Clare Green

Meeting called to order at 6:35 PM

Notes:

Dave reviewed the beach cleanup which took place Saturday, May 19 and
was attended by Dave and Bev Shepardson, Fran Prohaska, and Gloria
Varno.  Dave got the ditch dug along the side of the road and diverted
to the grassy area instead of the sandy beach area.  Cleared more buck
thorn along the water's edge to try and starve the buckthorn.  Termites
were found in a rotted log so Dave disposed of that.  We raked the pine
grove area and Dave disposed all the boxes of leaves and pine needles
and limbs we collected.  We left the staining of the kiosk for Jim when
he has time.  Clare said she might have some stain to use.

Dave said he spoke to a couple boys one day who were pulling rocks from
near the dam to build the 'rock pile'.  Told them it's essential that
the rocks remain near the dam.

Minutes of the April 23rd meeting were unanimously approved with a
couple of name misspellings, Cody and not Cory, Tringali (which was
misspelled).

Beach Party is scheduled for June 16 from 1 to 4 PM, rain date June 23.

Jim has music arranged by Ann & Terry Reed; Bruce Wilson; Matt and Nancy
Hickler: and Jim himself.

Clare has an application for Hannaford's to order the cake.  She thinks
it might be a partial donation since it's for the town beach.

Snacks to include Popcorn which Fran and Gloria will provide and serve
in paper bags.  Lemonade provided by Kathy.  Watermelon provided by
Kathy and Clare.  Kathy has cups and napkins available.

Fran mentioned she may have some Hawaiian Lei's which the entertainment 
crew could wear.  Gloria might also have a couple.

Kathy is going to check with David Young to see if the Solar Monitor
currently near the kiosk at the beach can be moved before the party.

Clare suggested having a 'donation jar' so people can make contributions
to the water testing.  Kathy is going to provide some water testing
results.  Kathy has been trying to get the forms necessary to file to
get the water testing down to a monthly test but no one has any idea who
to contact.  The water testing has begun for this year and no calls yet.
 Tested is done on Monday and a call would be received by 6PM Tuesday if
problems.

Jim asked how the sawdust was holding up from the ice cutting and Dave
said they had to add more sawdust so not sure if it's melting with such
a warm winter and spring.

Next meeting scheduled for July 16, 2012 at 6:30 PM.  Agenda:  Review
beach party, water testing, and Old Home Day details.
