Moore's Pond Beach Committee Minutes January 14, 2013 @ 6:30 PM Present: Gloria Varno, Kathy Connelly, Dave Shepardson, Clare Green (arrived 6:55 PM) Meeting called to order at 6:35 PM Minutes of October 15, 2012 meeting approved as ammended. Ice Cutting Scheduled for February 9, 2013 at 10 AM. Alternates dates discussed if required because of weather, February 10, 2013 at 1 PM or February 16, 2013 at 10 AM. Dave said the leftover sawdust is so dry that he has been mixing it with fresh sawdust hoping to get the right consistency. Asked if he will use Styrofoam in the ice shed this year and he said Howard Hastings said he might have some but if he doesn't have it, Dave won't bother to use it. Kathy is going to confirm with Bill Gates, the fire chief, the fire department will be on hand during the cutting. Dave will check with Walter Shaw about some ice cutting equipment but they already have 3 saws available. Kathy will put a notice in the newsletter than anyone wishing to bring ice cutting equipment for demonstration or use can do so that day. Kathy will contact Kim at Wagon Wheel and mention that we may need some ice in August if they can have any on hand in case we run into the same problems of no ice available when the ice shed is opened. April Lasagna Dinner Scheduled for April 13, 2013 at 6:00 PM. Permit has been approved for all Wooden Fender events for the year. List of items needed for menu (from minutes April 23, 2012) 10 Lasagnas 6 bags of salad 6 salad dressings 2 lbs of butter 10 loaves of bread (garlic was the biggest hit) Chocolate chip cookies and brownies were the biggest dessert hits 2 containers of lemonade as we ran out this year 50 cups of coffee Water in pitchers on the table was a hit Gloria won't be available for this so will donate the salad dressing before she leaves. Clare will make 2 white veggie lasagnas this year. Dave volunteered Bev to make 1 meat and 1 veggie. Kathy will make 2 or 3 and check with Jim. And also ask for volunteers to make a lasagna in the newsletter. Setup to start at 4 PM that day. Dawn Magi had collected at the door last year so Kathy is going to ask her if she would volunteer again this year. Gloria mentioned she got the bread at Stop and Shop on Friday since the Italian loaves are 99 cents on Fridays only. Since Gloria will be out town, Kathy said she may call Stop and Shop and see if they will reserve 10 loaves and maybe even give us a discount for a fund raiser. Admission charges for the dinner are $10 for adults; $5 for kids under 12; free for kids under 3. Kathy mentioned the water testing bill just arrived and it is $2 more per test which we were never informed about. She tried to get them to reduce for last year but they did not. She is going to ask David Young if we can borrow from a 'slush' fund until we make up the difference at a fund raiser. May Cleanup Scheduled for May 18 2013 at 10 AM. Dave mentioned they would furnish coffee and donuts. June Walk to the Beach Scheduled for June 22, 2013 starting in the center of town at 10 AM. A beach party will follow at the beach. Menu – popcorn served in small brown bags; watermelon; punch/lemonade Kathy will check with Jim about music and she was talking to someone who just moved to town who has a daughter in a band. Gloria Varno is resigning from the Beach Committee at the end of her 3 year reign so everyone is looking for candidates to replace her. Kathy will post it in the newsletter to get people interested. Next meeting is scheduled for March 11, 2013 at 6:30 PM.
