Historical Society Minutes September 17, 2008 The meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. following a very interesting photo presentation by the Whipples of their trip to Alaska in June 2008. There were 17 people in attendance. Secretary's report was approved as read. Treasurer's report approved as read. Total Historical Society accounts are worth $16,154.31. Both the 18 Month CD and the 6-month CD are earning 2.72% at the present time. The list of officers was read for the new 2-year term covering Sept. 2008 through Sept. 2010. The officers are as follows: Larry Carey, president Charlie Brown, vice-president Arline Lincoln, treasurer Martha Morse, secretary A motion was made and passed to install this slate of officers for two years. Larry invited anyone interested to fill the vacant position of Society curator, noting the we have a lot of materials which need to be better organized. Freddie Fellows said she and Calvin had recently visited the Guilford, Vermont historical society to see how it was organized, and found it very interesting. It is open on Tuesday and Saturdays. Freddie and Cal, Bill Harris, Rod and Liz Whipple, and Michael Carey expressed interest in taking another trip to Guilford in the spring or summer. Ed Lemon would like to take photos of historical buildings in Warwick, noting the photos need to be archived. Ed will scan both reflective and transparent photos for archiving. A motion was made and passed that Ed borrow the book on the table in the southeast corner first floor room of the historical society building in order to do this.
