Historical Society Minutes March 18, 2009 The Warwick Historical Society met at 7 p.m. on March 18, 2009 in the basement of the Town Hall. There were 15 in attendance. The business meeting was called to order by Larry Carey. The secretary's report was accepted as read. Arline Lincoln reported that we have a total of $16,560.32 in the society's checking, savings, and two CD accounts. The 7-month CD matures June 22, 2009 and the 18-month CD matures Feb. 20, 2010. The interest earned in 2008 was $510.41. A motion was made and passed to accept the Treasurer's report. NEW BUSINESS: Several members expressed interest in visiting the Guilford, Vermont Historical Society sometime this spring or summer in order to see how their materials are organized. Calvin and Freddie Fellows had earlier commented on their visit there as a good source of ideas for organizing our materials. Larry will call Freddie and follow up with members to arrange a date. It was generally agreed that we need to develop a system to catalogue exactly what is in the Society building, perhaps something similar to the computer program developed by Matt Hickler for the Warwick Library. Ed Lemon reported that his project of archiving photos for the Historical Society was somewhat delayed due to illness, but that he is now proceeding with scanning historical photos and documents to put on DVD or CD. A motion was made and passed allowing Ed Lemon to remove records from the Historical Society Building in order to archive them. Ed shared with members a chart showing the owners of many old houses in Warwick, most of which were featured in the histories written by Charles Morse and Ed Hawes. He urged members to let him know of any inaccuracies in the information. When the roads improve, Ed intends to continue photographing Warwick's historical buildings. At the last Women's Guild meeting, the Historical Society asked for permission to use the new Warwick flag design on its T-shirts. Permission was granted and Ed Lemon will produce a sample shirt. We hope the newly designed t-shirts will be available for sale at Old Home Day at the end of August. Also on sale will be the thirty or so Afghans unsold from the last order, as well as maps and note cards. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m., followed by refreshments. Our next quarterly meeting is scheduled for June 17, 2009. Respectfully submitted, Martha Morse, Secretary
