Coordinator report August 10, 2017 Town clerk has supplied a slate of Election Workers for appointment. The Veterans District request we appoint our representative to its Advisory Board which meets quarterly. Finally the board needs to make a Selectboard appointment to FC Planning Board. (Each town gets two and Ted is our Planning Board Representative) There is an agenda item to do some brainstorming regarding our planned Fall Special Town Meeting Articles. The need for a meeting is to vote a reduction to the Town Meeting Fire Department apparatus appropriation to align it with our actual needs, reducing amount to $40k, saving us from $35k hitting the tax rate. I recommend the board consider an article to begin to fund McKnight property clean-up so when we get site control we can secure an begin address the low hanging fruit of tires and white goods. Finally, we may want to pursue a remedy for the geese problem on Moores Pond with a local ordinance against feeding. Finance Committee member Steve Ruggiero has suggested we investigate outsourcing highway operations to contractors. The idea has merit as there is a lot of capacity in both manpower and rolling stock available in the winter. Others are thinking about the concept of outsourcing our accounting services. However, on our broadband side we succeed with lower costs using the alterative of "force accounting" which is using own workforce at their pay rate rather than the prevailing / union wage rate. Warwick Treasurer reports she needs the Selectboard to authorize and execute a note for needed borrowing to cover upcoming cash flow needs. The board will convene midweek for the Community Compact Signing on Wednesday Aug 16 at 12:30 p.m. with Lt. Governor Polito at Town Hall; The next regular meeting is Monday August 28. I will be on light duty the week of August 21 recovering from a planned medical / surgical procedure. Count me out that Monday and the following day at a minimum.
