Coordinator report January 6, 2011 We cancelled the previously scheduled meeting. Please consult as well my report dated December 22, 2010 for this Jan 10, 2011 meeting. After 26 years of service Police Chief Brian Peters is retiring effective February 4, 2011. We owe Brian our sincere thanks for his dedication. He recommends that the Selectboard appoint David Shoemaker who would accept the appointment. Officer Shoemaker and I would like to have a reception honoring Brian on the afternoon of Saturday Feb 5 at the town hall. Attached is the AG's office reply to Warwick being left off the order that Verizon upgrade its plain old telephone service. They maintain that only 413 area code is involved in the decree. Some folks have expressed concern about the broad prohibition of employee family members from obtaining benefit of wood cut by highway department. Perhaps a further discussion of the rationale or assignment to a committee ought be considered. Our moderator has expressed concern regarding important zoning matters being taken up at a special town meeting. I'd recommend deferring the stretch building code question to the annual meeting since it isn't time sensitive. It is good policy and it is a touchstone on the path to Green Community designation and some grant funding. The PVRS district is working on getting us state funding for WCS boiler, roof, and air handling. We are not eligible for reimbursement for sprinkler repair because the dollar total is under $250k. I am looking at further enhancements. We could get $175k grant back if we spend another $45k. Patricia has noted that it is time to start organizing the Town's 250th birthday celebration. We should seek volunteers for a steering committee. To date we have twelve application packages requested and delivered to residents for CPE Internet grants. I have worked with five residents to completion and await IRS income documentation on these. We have written three full price orders for broadband in the same time frame. We have three installations that are so marginal I have not billed them as we wait, watch, and see if we can fine tune them to make them reliable or need to remove them. We had one attempted installation fail at the top of Barber Hill.
