On the subject of lowering salt and energy use, please consider holding a brainstorming session with interested parties regarding snow and ice removal costs, salt use, practice of treating during storms and salting dirt roads, idling equipment, keeping the plow trucks plowing and not idling. Consider having the Selectboard and TC ride along on a winter storm to see how we operate including application of minerals during storms and waiting between plowing runs. Town of Warwick plan to acquire forest / conservation land with grant funds received and on account (MA DCR grant). The subject property abuts existing town forest. Because of the unique location adjacent to Town Forest with common boundary and unique qualities including abutting the Town owned Black Gum Swamp, Warwick determines that advertising for bids or offerings would not serve the needs of the Town nor the public interest. This makes the acquisition "sole source and we must disclose our intentions in a Central Register notice 30 days before signing anything binding. The seller has offered the property to the town for $80,000 and has now agreed to sell for appraised value. In addition to the disclosure requirement being met by posting to Central Register, the project is subject to TM approval to acquire additional Town Forest, a beneficial interest disclosure to DCAMM by the seller, and final approval by the Selectboard. By the terms of the award, the Town intends to permanently protect the property against sale or development by deed restriction and intends to manage the forest.
