Broadband Committee Minutes 5-8-09 Present: Reva Reck (presiding) Les Goodman, Miryam Williamson (recording), David Young (town coordinator) CTO 15:35 Minutes of Mar. 27, 2009 and May 1, 2009 were approved. Contrary to the committee's decision May 1, there will be no weekly report from the installation database being maintained by Terry Kemerer in the town hall. David Young objected, saying that subscribers' IP and MAC addresses are as sensitive as their social security numbers. Instead of providing the committee with the requested information on actual, failed, and potential installations, David Young presented Reva Reck with a street list on which actual installations were highlighted. Les Goodman said the number of highlights did not match his recollection. In future Les, who has access to the actual installation data by virtue of his doing the installations, will furnish the committee a list of successful installations. Some discussion followed as to the broadband committee's role. The committee will report to the selectboard and ask for clarification. Also discussed without closure was whether an installation should be considered complete on the town's part when the installer demonstrates internet access on a laptop outside the house, and that the homeowner would be responsible for getting the signal to a computer inside the house, even if that meant hiring technical assistance from a third party. Miryam was authorized to ask the selectboard chair for permission to contact town counsel and request a draft waiver of liability for the homeowner to sign. It was agreed without vote that we will furnish town counsel with a draft service agreement, which the homeowner will also sign when at the time of installation. The committee will discuss installation policies further at its next meeting, May 22. MOTION to adjourn - Reva, second - Les. UNANIMOUS.
