BROADBAND UPDATE - Miryam Williamson Three broadband antennas are up on the Mt. Grace fire tower, each pointing in a different direction and providing a signal that goes out in a full circle. Next, AccessPlus.com, the company that will provide the backhaul (our connection to the Internet,) will install an antenna on Mt. Tom that will look directly at the Mt. Grace tower. Weather is the factor that will determine when that is done. The system on Mt. Grace is turned on and waiting for the backhaul. Once that is done, we can start serving the Town Hall, library, highway department, and police station. Work at the cell tower on Route 78 will proceed as soon as possible. Electrical wiring there must wait until the frost is out of the ground, probably not before April. The broadband system can work without the cell tower, though. We should be ready to start hooking up residents in a month or two. Notice will appear in the newsletter, The L (the town's e-mail list), and on the town's official web page.
