Broadband Update - Miryam Williamson December 2009 The broadband committee's assignment is to bring high speed, affordable Internet access to Warwick. At their November 2 meeting, the selectboard approved the committee's suggestion of a time payment plan to help to achieve that goal. Under the plan, which is available to two households each month, subscribers pay for the installation and equipment over a period of 13 months. The subscriber's share of the installer's fee, $100, is due at the time of installation. For the next 12 months, the equipment is paid off at $35 a month, for a total of $420. (Subscriber equipment paid for at the time of installation costs $400.) The regular $50 monthly service fee still applies, so the initial payment would be $150, with $85 due on the first of the month for the next year. After that the bill drops to $50 a month. There are other provisions, having to do with nonpayment or stopping the service before the equipment is paid for. These are meant to protect the town's broadband enterprise fund, which has to pay for the equipment in advance of its being paid for by the subscriber.
