Broadband Update - Miryam Williamson November 2009 If you're moving from dialup to high speed internet, you need to practice safe connection. Your computer will be connected to the Internet whenever it is turned on. That means malicious people with the necessary skills can do rotten things to your computer, things they couldn't do on a dialup connection. You need reliable anti-virus software and anti-spyware software as well. The good news is that these things are available free of charge. If you've never been attacked with a virus or malware, you don't know what computer misery is. Getting it fixed isn't cheap, either, and you risk losing files you value, or even your entire hard drive. Failure to protect yourself can put others on Warwick Broadband at risk, too. So please take this seriously. Reva Reck, who heads the Broadband Committee, will be glad to talk with you about this. She's at 544 3911.
