Warwick Board of Health In an effort to balance our interests in public health issues with the community expectations concerning pot luck dinners, food sales, and other similar activities, the Warwick Board of Health will use the following guidelines to monitor such activities: Permits are required for all activities involving food for both for-profit and non-profit organizations. These permits require applications which can be picked up in the town hall prior to Board of Health meetings. Completed applications should be presented at BOH meetings so that permits can be issued. There is no charge for a permit for a non-profit or town governmental group. Any group serving food that has not been prepared in a certified and licensed kitchen must keep a log of donated food with the name of the food and the name of the donor. This log must be available to the BOH in the case of food illness. All outside venues where food is served must have hand washing facilities and bathroom facilities available. *town common (town hall must be open and available) * Fire station common (fire station must be open and available) * Other areas - must provide bathroom and hand washing Care must be taken when food is served. Food servers need to wear gloves when food is being served. Gloves also need to be worn when preparing salads, etc. An easy guideline to remember is that gloves must be worn at all times unless you are preparing something that will be cooked after its preparation. Hats or visors must keep hair out of the face. Hands must be washed (including wrists) before donning gloves. Gloves must be changed whenever a job is changed and hands re-washed. Following these guidelines should allow us to protect the health of our community as they continue with their fundraising and civic activities.
