This is an excellent time to purchase your home solar electricity system
- costs have come down, incentives are still high, and you do not need a
perfect site.

On Saturday May 7th, three highly regarded local solar installers will
present information about the different siting options and installation
process, and they'll de-mystify the financial rewards of owning your own
solar PV system. Bring your burning questions and your electric bill and
see what it might take for you to "Go Solar" too!

Here are some of the highlights and incentives that exist today:

Mass. Solar Loan Program: This program pays 30% of the principal if your
family income is less than $66,866, or it can pay 20% if it is less than
$80,240.
Participating lenders can reduce the interest rate on a 10 yr. loan by
3%. 
Federal investment tax credit of 30%: This can be rolled forward if
necessary, and it reduces your effective purchase price.
State investment tax credit of $1,000
Solar Renewable Energy Credits, or SRECs: This incentive pays you a
bonus for producing solar electricity. 
Net Metering Credits: You can bank surplus electricity from the summer
as a $$ credit on your bill and use it to pay wintertime bills.
Reduce your electric bill and also give yourself a small income:
A correctly sized system will reduce your yearly electric bill to near
zero. The SRECs will cover much of the loan payments, giving you a small
income.
