Warwick Buildings and Energy Committee draft minutes August 29th, 2011, at 6:59 pm Attending: Jack Cadwell, Jim Toth, Janice Kurkoski, Steve Kurkoski, Dan Dibble July meeting minutes accepted NEW SAFETY BUILDING Jack will call Mike Mankowski and attend the Sept. 6th meeting of the Firemen's Association. TOWN HALL Windows Discussion about how to seal around the windows. Dining room windows measure 2' 10" x 3' 10". Jack will ask David to buy enough weather strip sealing (24pcs of 7') material for the job. David said he is following up with Carbonne's on the storm window replacement for the remaining TH windows. Improvement Account David says there will be no money left in the account after the window work is completed. Can this account be set up so the money that gets saved because of energy saving work be put back into this fund? Should each building have its own Energy Improvement Account as an incentive to reduce energy consumption? Discussion to be continued and resolved before May town meeting. SCHOOL Lease The PVRSD will form an ad hoc committee to address capital improvements and how the energy savings could come back to the town. If we do improvements to the building now we should be able to use the historic energy data to make a case so we get credit for the improvements. We should be working with Linda Gale, our town's representative to PVRS. Jim will send an initial contact e-mail to Linda. Dan will ask Tom Zinitti if he can help us with this. Abbot Report Dan will ask Jaylin if she can research the chimney clearance issue. Other maintenance/small budget items gleaned from the report that could be addressed right away are: Install a range hood baffle Install door gasket at the gym thermal boundary door Identify and turn OFF phantom loads - re-train staff. Gym walls - air seal around posts HISTORICAL SOCIETY Martha Morse asked Jack to ask the committee to consider ways to preserve sensitive items in the Historical Society building. Jack proposed it might be possible to find room in the school to house some. Janice will call or e-mail Martha with the August 24, 2010 suggestions that our committee gave to the society a year ago regarding simple things to do in the building. MISCELLANEOUS There will be an Energy Roundtable for the North Quabbin town energy committees Oct 1st, 10:15-12:30 am, at the Garlic & Arts Festival. Ideas for a Warwick poster for this event are pictures of the school thermal images, town hall work bees, town hall solar system, and the energy use charts. Green Communities Act David has asked that our committee address this, particularly the stretch code. Discussion to be continued at next mtg.. Meeting adjourned; 8:53 Next meeting September 21th 6:30
