Warwick Buildings and Energy Committee Draft Meeting Minutes: August 24, 2010 Location: Warwick Town Hall, Meeting called to order 6:37 Attending: Janice Kurkoski, Steve Kurkoski, Jim Toth, Jack Cadwell, Dan Dibble, Les Goodman, Minutes for July have been accepted. ANNOUNCEMENTS Jim Barry from DOER will give a presentation in Warwick about the Green Communities Act. The date and location has not been announced yet. TOWN HALL Solar System Bill Lyman has measured the Town Hall roof. Steve will forward this information to Chris Kilfoyle at BPVS. Aesthetic concerns were discussed concerning the PV array. It was mentioned that if we need to have more modules for a more aesthetic pleasing installation we may be able to come up with more money to add a module. Roof The roof bid is $14,600 labor with Warwick supplying the shingles. The material is estimated at $7,400. We will install 3 data loggers in the attic to determine if venting is needed. Message Board Cabinet Jack is making a Message Board Cabinet for the rear entrance of the Town Hall. Steve will contact David to find out what is needed for lighting and find an appropriate fixture and lamp. Winserts Les will look at making frames for the four full size windows and the lower sections of the larger remaining four "Two Part" windows in the Main hall. Jack will look at making glass inserts for the upper sections of the larger remaining four "Two Part" windows in the Main hall. Storm Windows We are requesting that we continue with replacing the rest of the storm windows. Sash Restoration Jack will find out from David which sashes need to be worked on first. The two in the upper hall, and a couple in the main hall are likely candidates. Women's Guild The Women's Guild is going to paint the Dining room. The Guild is asking us if we know why the paint is peeling below the chair rail. We are suggesting that they contact a Sherwin Williams representative. The manager of the Athol store lives in town on the Gulf Rd. and may be a good place to start. WARWICK COMMUNITY SCHOOL Roof The insurance claim has been filed with the shingle manufacturer. Data Loggers Jack and Steve will install temperature data loggers in the attic.The information gathered may help us with a claim to the shingle manufacturer. They will also talk with Ellen Edson about retrieving the old data which is reported to be lost. Mike Lapinski is the technology teacher. Building Performance Audit Jim has written technical specifications. From this point we are going to submit the tech. specs. to David. He will have to take our guidelines and write a more comprehensive Request For Quotes (RFQ). Yeas = 6. No = 0. Building Information David has a complete set of building information paper work. He is making a copy of these. WARWICK HISTORICAL SOCIETY Our recommendations based on tour last month are: Determine the target temp, light, & humidity. Track the current conditions. Provide climate control for one room or storage compartment for sensitive items. Provide proper drainage at both the up-hill and downhill foundations.
