Warwick Buildings and Energy Committee Draft Meeting Minutes, August18, 2009 Location: Warwick Town Hall Meeting called to order 6:55 Attending: Janice Kurkoski, Steve Kurkoski, Jim Toth, Dan Dibble, Les Goodman, Rich Field, Jack Cadwell Minutes moved, seconded and accepted for July. TOWN HALL We need to caulk the baseboard to stop the cellulose coming into the interior of the building from the recent insulation job. The insulating company found some fiberglass insulation in some of the walls. We need to follow up with this to make sure all cavities are full of insulation. Should we have another work day at the town hall? We will set a date for another work day at the Town Hall at our next meeting. Can we have another 'winsert' workshop at the Town Hall? We can make some winserts for the offices. Janice will ask Brian Nugent. DOER (Bowman Engineering Audit) We should insulate the Town Hall. This work is done. Seal the Elevator shaft. We need to follow up on this to see if a damper should be installed. We need to check with the Fire Department before we do anything. Jack will write a letter to David to asking him to ask the company that installed/ inspect the elevator if there is a way to seal the shaft, not heat the elevator fluid, and possibly turn the car light out when not in use. SOLAR IN TOWN Jim brought in mock up picture of town buildings with solar on them. Steve talked about solar sighting in the town and stated there are a number of possible sites. Steve will bring into the next meeting some numbers for different locations in town. Dan will write up in the Green Corner that we are looking at solar sighting in town. Janice will find out exactly what MTC is requiring from towns to use the grant money. SCHOOL Susan Wright said she is unlikely that she will our liaison for the school this year as her job is changing. OTHER ISSUES DOER Green Communities Act- The town voted NOT to apply for technical assistance to become a "Green Community". The two criteria: "as-of-right siting" and "expedited permitting" were the two biggest reasons. However, we can still apply for funds to accomplish green things in town, including more conservation measures and additional funding for a PV system that also uses up our MTC fund (approx. $6,000).
