WARWICK BUILDING and ENERGY COMMITTEE Meeting; Wed., May 5, 2010 Meeting called to order at 6:35 PM Members present: Janice Kurkoski (chair), Dan Dibble (scribe pro tem), Barbara Walker, Les Goodman, arriving later were Jack Cadwell & Jim Toth (Steve Kurkoski absent due to purported injury) Minutes of the meeting of 3/31/2010 were approved & accepted First item was the WCS so that Barbara Walker could go to another meeting at 7 PM. Discussion included; -With Town Meeting approval of funding "for energy consulting at WCS", what are our next steps? - Discussion of process for hiring contractors and what we want from them. Jack wondered if we could get "free" initial meeting to get a better feel for their expertise. We want someone who will do an overall assessment of the building not just insulation, to provide a written cost analysis of proposed up grades, written "building use & maintenance manual" for occupant and admin use (suggested Tom Ziniti or Ellen Edson as building monitor) Janice gave three names of contractors, which Jim will follow up on. - Discussion of whether we go ahead with audit or wait for sprinkler repairs was inconclusive. Either seemed to be workable. - Jim will work on preliminary Scope of Service document - Discussion of further outreach to wider school district admin (PVRS admin, Steve Fields - PVRS maint. Supervisor, Ellen Edson - WCS princ., Warwick School Bd members) Barbara left for next meeting and discussion turned to Town Hall projects. Jim suggested, & board concurred, priorities to be 1) chimneys 2) roof 3) windows. Jack mentioned hearing of federal rebates for light colored shingles. The addtl. PV re-bate application needs to be submitted to Commonwealth Solar soon. Has David Young contacted Chris Kilfoyle of Berkshire PV re: contract award notice, and will Chris be doing this paperwork? Jim will follow up. Discussed finishing walkway in attic. Jack & Dan will drop off materials they have. Les & Jim will work on project this week. Janice mentioned that Tim Kilhart, highway super., asked for help cutting heating costs for large concrete equipment building. Discussion followed. Janice announced several upcoming workshops. Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM Minutes submitted by Dan Dibble
