Warwick Buildings and Energy Committee Draft Meeting Minutes May 27, 2009 Location: Warwick Town Hall Meeting called to order 6:37 Attending: Janice Kurkoski, Steve Kurkoski, Jim Toth, Jack Cadwell, Susan Wright, Les Goodman, Dan Dibble Minutes moved, seconded and passed for April ANNOUNCEMENTS Scott Durkee has told us that his auditors will call us before this Friday to set a date for auditing town buildings on the list. Scott stated that once the audit is done other grant doors may open for the town. If the town fulfills requirements for the Green Communities Act it may be eligible for other funding. Economic Stimulus grant has $12 million for MA cities and towns under 35,000. As of this date $5643 is in the MTC Renewable Energy Fund for the town of Warwick. Town building energy use report has not been completed by Janice as of this meeting. SCHOOL Steve Fields' response to Siemans preliminary audit and comments have been e-mailed to the committee as of today. 5th and 6th grade have checked the bottom vents in the building. The top vents were too high for them to monitor. Their report has been given to the committee. Susan sent out a electronic survey to all staff members at the school. 10 responses have been received up to this date. A copy of this survey has been given to this committee. Susan will contact Ellen about sending a copy of this survey to Steve Fields. Roland Butzke has told us that Siemens will put our school in with the rest of the PVRS building audits in Round 2 of the FRCOG ESco program. This audit will probably be performed this fall or winter. The PVRS is also on the DOER list for free energy audits, but likely not to happen until this winter or early spring. TOWN HALL Janice is working on writing the bid for air sealing and insulating the town hall. David will set up the painting/staining bid. Jack and or Dan will contact David about carpentry issues, in particular the utility chase behind the stage, repair of the gable end vent and preparing the attic for the insulation contractors. Jim will contact David in regard to the stone and masonry work to be done at the Town Hall. Janice will start a list for items to be performed on the next Town hall work day. David asked that the WBEC recommend a window dressing for the offices, particularly working shades for the coming summer months. Jack will put out on the L that we are looking for someone in town to help with this. The committee is recommending that a humidity and temperature min/max meter be purchased for the basement. This will allow us to monitor the basement and make informed recommendations. Janice will contact David and ask him to have someone (Charlie?) take apart and dry out the dehumidifiers before they are used (they took on water in the Dec flood). Jim will stop at Manny's to pick up a cardboard box to store the winserts for the town hall. Meeting adjourned 8:02 Next Meeting June 17, 6:30
