Warwick Buildings and Energy Committee draft minutes
January 31th, 2012, at 6:00 pm
Attending: Janice Kurkoski, Steve Kurkoski, Matt Sheldon, Dan Dibble,
Jack Cadwell
December meeting minutes accepted, with the correct spelling of Tracy
"Kirley", not Curley.

TOWN HALL:
Window Sash Replacement; Jack has received three sets back and will
install them with Dan, Matt and Janice on Thursday 12:45 PM, Feb. 2.

Kitchen Hot Water; Dan reports no problems with this issue as of this date. 

WARWICK SCHOOL:
Computer Phantom Load; Tom Zinitti, on behalf of the IT teacher, is
asking if they should shut the computers off or put them in sleep mode
to save energy. Dan will talk with Tom about what to do about this issue
and if they need further support they can contact Steve or Janice.

Lease; Dan reports that David feels that we cannot make anymore headway
on this issue with the PVRS board at this time.  
This committee voted unanimously to pass the current lease amendment
wording as written in our last meeting on to the selectboard. It reads
as follows - "The school district will reimburse the town for energy
saving capital expenses from the savings within the annual operation
budget". 
We talked about how to inform the town about what we are or are not
doing about the school. Suggestions are flyers at town meeting, a
newsletter article, an explanation in the annual report. Janice will
write something for the FY11 annual report and a newsletter article. The
committee members will critique this before it is submitted.
Dan asked if we could insulate the heat exchangers in the unheated attic
ourselves.
Matt said he thought that wouldn't be too difficult. 
The following three actions will be taken to see if there are any other
avenues available to us for this project.  
Janice will call Bart Bales to see if he knows of anyone who can help us
with an insulating/air sealing ESCO. Steve will contact the other three
town energy committees (Northfield, Bernardston, Leyden) to see if they
are interested in going forward with an insulating /air sealing job/ESCO
on their school buildings.
Dan will ask David if we can use the balance of the $10K that has not
been spent to hire a grant writer to look for money to help with this
project.

Fire Dept.
Dan reports Ron Gates wants to have a Saturday winsert workshop at the
Fire Dept. Dan will talk with Ron, finalize the details and put the
information on the "L" &/or in the newsletter. Janice will look into
finding the materials.
