Warwick Buildings and Energy Committee Draft Meeting Minutes, December 15, 2008 Location: Warwick School Meeting called to order 7:14 Attending: Janice Kurkoski, Steve Kurkoski, Les Goodman, Jim Toth, Rich Field and Michael Hager Minutes moved, seconded and passed for November. Power outage issues Town Hall Town Hall was flooded and pumped two days in a row. There was about four inches of water resulting in the dehumidifiers sitting in three inches of water. Although the downstairs toilet tank and bowl had a considerable amount of ice in it no freeze damage occurred or in any other part of the water systems. Sheetrock and other inexpensive articles sitting on the basement floor received minimal water damage. Is the Town Hall on anybody's radar screen during an emergency? David Young is the person who should be called regarding Town Hall issues. We could generate a list and submit it to Jim Erviti the Emergency Operations Coordinator (EOC) Town Hall and Kitchen Winter procedure: After finding the kitchen toilet and tank full of ice last week (the dining room temp was about 38 degrees during the power outage), the Buildings and Energy Committee proposes that, during the winter months, the bathroom door is left in the open position when the building is not in use, and the bathroom elec. heat thermostat be turned down to 45 degrees or less, so that it does not try to heat the kitchen and dining room which are set to 50 degrees. Dan Dibble will close the door and pre-heat the bathroom on Senior Meals day, and also remember to turn the heat down and open the door after use. The cabinet doors under the sink should also be left open, so that the pipes can enjoy the same cozy temperature as the rest of the room. It should be pointed out that if someone uses the heat in the Main Hall, he or she should close the dampers in the dining room afterwards, and remember to set the thermostat back or let it run its program, depending on what's up later that day. Town Hall Summary of Town Hall work day item Thermostat moved. Basement doors insulated. More band joists insulated. More curtains installed in the main hall. Kitchen chimney sealed.
