Warwick Buildings and Energy Committee Draft Meeting Minutes, November 1, 2008 Location: Board Room, Town Hall Meeting called to order 3:05 Attending: Janice Kurkoski, Steve Kurkoski, Jack Cadwell, Les Goodman, Jim Toth Minutes moved, seconded and passed for October. ESCO Jim received an E mail from Bob Dean about the ESCOs. Preliminary Energy Audit (PEA) will probably be completed by end of the year. Investment Grade Audit (IGA) costs 8 to 9 cents a square foot. Jim will continue to be our ESCO liaison and make available all the buildings in town for Siemens. We voted to recommend that the Selectboard sign the PEA. School Signing up for IGA may require the town to enter into a different type of agreement with the school district. Selectboard Jack wrote to David that we voted to recommend to the selectman move forward on the PEA Town Hall Budget items It may be premature to do budget items because PEA items may over-lap some of our budget items. The latest date we can have items in for the town mtg is March. We will revisit in January the PEA and budget items. To do list Put a wood cap on top of the southwest chimney. We believe that we should have a mason repair our chimneys when the time comes. Highway Dept. may have a way to fix the Town Hall gravity drain that is clogged. Items leftover from Town Hall work day We need to check in with the Women Guild about installing Winserts in the dining room. Close the storm windows. Window west of bulkhead needs to be cleaned, air sealed and may also be appropriate for a winsert. Cut foam panels and seal remainder of band joist. Straighten out the attic insulation, and air seal up. Make barriers in attic for the chases behind the stage. Elec. work: fix hall light junction box in attic, move town clerks' thermostat to upstairs hall, install programmable t-stat in dining room - Janice bought one like the other. Make interior storms for dining room/kitchen, backstage, bathrooms, and other small windows, maybe even the transom windows in the main hall. How to insulate window weight areas? - we will discuss after Siemens visit. Non energy issues These are not about energy necessarily, but should get addressed: Weld bulkhead door hinges - David will get a welder in. Kitchen chimney - does it still need re-pointing this year? Jim will use some firestop caulk to perform a temporary repair. Put the wood cap back on the south chimney. Note: There has been trouble reported with the t-stat in the clerks' office, so the 'knife switch' in the basement was re-wired to switch from the t-stat at the bottom of the stairs to the clerks office. The new thermostat has a 4 minute time lag - maybe that's the problem. Jim will clarify. Adjourned 4:57
